CharaHub respects both the creator's desire to "spread" and "protect" their work, offering flexible license options.
1. Purpose of this Page
When publishing a character, it is very important to clarify "who can use it and how". If this is vague, users may hesitate to use it, or inversely, there is a risk that it will be used in ways the creator does not intend.
This page explains the differences between "Creative Commons" and "Custom Licenses" available on CharaHub, and their respective features. Please use this as a guide to choose the best rules for your work.
2. What is Creative Commons?
A Global Standard Rule for "Sharing Works"
Creative Commons (CC) licenses are tools to indicate "you are free to use this as long as you follow the conditions" while retaining copyright. The biggest feature is that it is used worldwide and the rules are conveyed across language barriers.
- Premise of "Free Use": CC licenses are created with the philosophy of promoting "reuse" for the development of creative culture.
- Limits to Restrictions: It is (basically) not possible to restrict only specific user attributes or purposes, such as "No Political Use" or "No R-18".
3. Selectable Creative Commons Licenses

Allowed:<br/>Commercial use, modification, redistribution, AI training, etc. Almost everything.
Condition:<br/>Display the author's credit (name and URL).
Suitable for:<br/>Those who want as many people as possible to use it. Those who are fine as long as their name is shown.

Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International
Allowed:<br/>Commercial use, modification, redistribution, etc.
Condition:<br/>In addition to credit display, modified works must be released under the "same CC BY-SA license".
Suitable for:<br/>Those who want their work to be shared for everyone even if it is modified (Open Source philosophy).

Public Domain Dedication
Allowed:<br/>No restrictions. No credit required.
Note:<br/>You effectively "waive" your copyright. Once set, it cannot be revoked.
Suitable for:<br/>Those who want to make it thoroughly easy to use as material. Those who are prepared to assert no rights at all.
4. About Custom Licenses (Proprietary)
"I want people to use it, but commercial use is trouble." "I don't want it used in a way that damages my image."<br/>CharaHub's unique "Custom License" was prepared to respond to such creator voices.
Based on "All Rights Reserved"
Basically, it starts from a state of "No Unauthorized Use", and you set individual conditions like "I specifically allow (or prohibit) only this and this".<br/>*This license is not compatible with Creative Commons.

🚀 If you just want to spread it
CC BY is definitely recommended. As long as there is credit, anyone can use it, so the chance of your character being active in games and videos is maximized.
🛡 If you want to avoid trouble
Set Custom License with "No Political Use", "No Hate", etc. It doesn't prevent everything completely, but expressing your intent acts as a deterrent.
